Cats and Dogs

I love my cat, and I love my dog,

my happiness is complete.

The cat sits on my lap,

and the dog sits at my feet.

Now the cat is so imperious;

in it’s own way will behave.

It treats me cool, with scant regard,

the master not the slave.

But the dog it is quite different;

a friend when times are hard.

It looks at me with anxious eyes,

my life, my heart, to guard

But I love them just the same you see,

for they live how they were made.

Not good, not bad, but different,

each one how nature laid.

And just like them, we’re different;

rejoice in what you are.

We’re all a bit like chalk and cheese,

a gift from those before.

Shout out the good, hold down the bad

Let everyone find their star.

Be proud that there’s just ONE of you,

Life made you what you are.
