      As Time Goes By

The years go by more quickly now

my word the time does fly.

Each month another milestone

each year a heartfelt sigh.

The sunrise over hills and dales

                           over rooftops, city sprawl,

reminds us that each day will come

but one day we’ll leave it all.

In spring we’ll see the colours fresh

summer too will please the soul

And autumn brings us more delight

its unique beauty to extol

                       But winter tells another tale

of rain and wind and snow.

It tells of things that won’t live on

like tired limbs, weak and slow.

But here’s the thing let’s not forget

that though the winter’s here,

for all the things that might be gone;

the spring will soon endear.

So live your life as beast you may,

bring joy to those you meet.

Our time on Earth is o'er too soon,

so make it victory, not defeat.
